Volleyball Recap: Providence Pioneers vs. New Albany Bulldogs
Providence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the New Albany Bulldogs. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Providence started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-20.
Hadley Hasselbring paced Providence's offense, picking up 15 kills. Hasselbring got some help from Rylie Neal and her 34 assists. Hasselbring was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Kinley Bush was the offensive standout of the contest as she had eight digs and three assists.
Providence's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for New Albany, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Providence and New Albany could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Pioneers will take on Assumption at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (61 vs. 1). Meanwhile, New Albany (ranked 73rd) will meet Brownstown Central (ranked 11th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
