Basketball Recap: Calvert Hall Cardinals vs. Gilman Greyhounds
The Calvert Hall Cardinals had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They secured a 59-55 W over Gilman. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Calvert Hall had a senior duo take command as Brendan Johnson scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals and Tyrin Bizzelle scored 18 points along with eight assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least a third of Calvert Hall's points. Another player making a difference was James Foster, who scored six points along with three steals.
Calvert Hall pushed their record up to 13-15 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Gilman, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvert Hall will play host again and welcome the Cougars, where tip off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Our Lady of Mount Carmel has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 239 points over their last four matches. As for Gilman, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Pallotti has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29.
