Basketball Recap: Armwood Skates Past Riverview with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Armwood). They claimed a resounding 79-47 win over the Riverview Sharks. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Sharks are ranked 611th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Armwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Henry Morgan, who went 10 of 15 on his way to 24 points. Those 24 points gave Morgan a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Talon Mckinnie, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten assists.

Armwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Armwood's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Riverview, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Armwood has already played their next contest, a 66-63 defeat against Strawberry Crest on the 13th. As for Riverview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-42 loss against Lennard on the 13th.
