Softball Recap: Durant Gets the Win

The Durant Cougars narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Alonso Ravens 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Leanne Allen made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Allen was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Allen wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Helfrich, who went 2-for-4 with one run. That's the most hits Helfrich has posted since back in March.

Durant's record now sits at 10-8. As for Alonso, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Durant will welcome Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Alonso, they are taking a road trip to take on East Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Ravens are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
