Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Hill Panthers vs. Leander Lions

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Liberty Hill Panthers face off against the Leander Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday... Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Liberty Hill sitting on 14 straight wins and Leander on six.

Last Tuesday, Liberty Hill earned a 53-40 victory over Cedar Park. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 544th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything went Leander's way against Glenn on Tuesday as Leander made off with a 52-31 win. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Liberty Hill is also on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Leander, they pushed their record up to 24-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Liberty Hill came out on top in a nail-biter against Leander in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 37-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Liberty Hill since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
