Baseball Recap: Garfield-Palouse Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Garfield-Palouse's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves. The win was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Cooper Wells made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Garfield-Palouse is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4-1 otherwise. Wells was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Preston Olson was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with eight stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those eight stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Macent Rarden, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Garfield-Palouse's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Tekoa-Rosalia, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Garfield-Palouse beat the Timberwolves by a score of 11-9 later that day.
