Baseball Game Preview: De La Salle Meteors vs. Richards Bulldogs

The De La Salle Meteors will head out on the road to square off against the Richards Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with De La Salle sitting on four straight victories and Richards on five.

On Thursday, De La Salle was able to grind out a solid win over Rich Township, taking the game 8-5.

Francisco Rodriguez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. De La Salle is 4-1 when Rodriguez posts one or more home runs, but 7-20 otherwise. Joel Montgomery also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: De La Salle lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rich Township didn't launched any home runs.

Meanwhile, Richards beat Blue Island Eisenhower 5-1 on Tuesday.

Richards pushed their record up to 22-6 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for De La Salle, their victory bumped their record up to 11-21.

De La Salle took their win against Richards when the teams last played back in June of 2021 by a conclusive 16-10 score. Will the Meteors repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
