Basketball Recap: Park City Sets Scoring Season-High Against Tooele

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Park City). They walked away with an 80-72 victory over the Tooele Buffaloes on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Miners as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Park City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Rice led the charge by going 13 for 22 on his way to 33 points and five rebounds. Those 33 points gave Rice a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bridger LaPine, who went 7 of 10 en route to 19 points.

Despite the loss, Tooele still got an impressive performance from Crew Lewis, who almost dropped a double-double on 36 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Lewis is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Heap, who posted 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.

Park City's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-16. As for Tooele, they dropped their record down to 2-17 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Park City will face off against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Rice and Myles Mahler. As for Tooele, they will square off against Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tooele is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.
