Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield East Bengals vs. Benet Academy Redwings

Plainfield East hasn't had much luck against Benet Academy recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Plainfield East Bengals will challenge the Benet Academy Redwings at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Saturday, Plainfield East beat Plainfield Central 60-49. The matchup marked the Bengals' most dominant victory of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Benet Academy). They took their contest last Saturday with ease, bagging an 83-33 win over Marian Catholic. The Redwings haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Benet Academy's win bumped their record up to 26-2. As for Plainfield East, their victory bumped their record up to 5-25.

Plainfield East was taken down by Benet Academy 65-32 when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can Plainfield East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
