Baseball Recap: Negaunee Triumphs

Seven must be Negaunee's lucky number: they beat Calumet with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Miners beat the Copper Kings by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-4. The win continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the Copper Kings: they've now won five in a row.

Waylon Harvala was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Harvala was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Ethan Juntti looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Aiden Steele was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Brayden Gleason was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Negaunee's record now sits at 15-5. As for Calumet, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Negaunee will venture away from home to take on Gladstone at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Calumet, they will welcome Hancock at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
