Basketball Recap: Nunamiut Piles Up the Points Against Nenana

Nunamiut won the last time they faced Nenana and things went their way on Thursday too. The Nunamiut Amaguq blew past the Nenana Lynx, posting an 81-52 victory. The Amaguq have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nunamiut to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kevin Gordon, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 steals. The dominant performance gave Gordon a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexander Galloso, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine steals.

The win (which was Nunamiut's third in a row) raised their record to 7-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.7 points per game. As for Nenana, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

When Nunamiut and Nenana next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Nunamiut will challenge Susitna Valley and their three-game winning streak at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Nunamiut is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Nenana will try to stop Effie Kokrine Charter's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nunamiut is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season.
