Volleyball Recap: Inez Castillo and Ava Cola Secure Win for St. Michael's

St. Michael had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Robertson on Tuesday. The Horsemen blew past the Cardinals 3-0. The Horsemen haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

St. Michael's never let Robertson on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-12, 25-22.

Leading St. Michael's to victory were Ava Cola and Inez Castillo. Cola had ten digs and two aces, while Castillo had five digs. Cola is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: St. Michael's was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive contests.

St. Michael's record is now 20-2. As for Robertson, their loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-14.

Coincidentally, St. Michael's and Robertson will both be playing West Las Vegas the next time they take the court. The Cardinals will host the Dons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Horsemen will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
