McLeod snaps 14-game streak of wins at home

It was a good run, but the McLeod Longhorns unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 42-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hawkins. If McLeod hoped to take revenge for the 59-48 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

Hawkins' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Derek Hollman, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Hollman has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Paul Smith was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

McLeod's defeat ended a 14-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 29-3. As for Hawkins, they pushed their record up to 25-1 with that win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

McLeod will face off against Ore City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ore City is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Hawkins, they will be playing at home against Harleton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Harleton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1516th, while Hawkins is ranked 365th).
