Basketball Recap: Valley Comes Up Short

Valley managed to keep up with Fairfield until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Valley Vikings lost 60-35 to the Fairfield Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1339th, while the Falcons are ranked 235th).

It was another big night for Johnnie Jones, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds for Fairfield. The contest was Jones' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Mike Jackson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Valley and nudges their season record down to 2-14. As for Fairfield, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.

Valley has already played their next game (against Armijo), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Fairfield will venture away from home to square off against West Campus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season.
