Baseball Recap: Make It Eight in a Row for Blacklick Valley

Blacklick Valley barely beat Ferndale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Yellow Jackets on Thursday. The game marked the Vikings' most dominant win of the season so far.

Rylan Garver was incredible, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Collin Nedrich, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double.

Blacklick Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory (which was Blacklick Valley's eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Ferndale, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Blacklick Valley will challenge Conemaugh Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Vikings' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Blue Jays have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Ferndale, they will square off against Greater Johnstown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
