Softball Recap: Bradford Railroaders vs. Troy Trojans
Bradford had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 7-9 to make it four. They fell just short of the Troy Trojans by a score of 5-4. The Railroaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2021.
Hayven Evans was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
As for Troy, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.
On Troy's side, Amayah Kennedy was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mimi Shaw, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bradford will head out to take on Celina at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Railroaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Troy, they will square off against Sidney at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.19 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
