Softball Recap: Wake Forest Beats Knightdale for Their 12th Straight Win

Wake Forest put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Knightdale Knights 20-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this match were averaging 1.17 runs allowed.

Skyluhr Hulbert made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hulbert was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kaylee Bowers was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Nova Pate was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Wake Forest hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.

Wake Forest's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. As for Knightdale, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wake Forest will square off against Wakefield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 1.2, the Wolverines 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Knightdale, they will be playing at home against Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Huskies will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
