Progreso has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the IDEA Riverview Rockets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. IDEA Riverview took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Progreso, who comes in off a win.
In what's become a running theme this season, Progreso gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 62-26 win over IDEA Frontier College Prep at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Progreso has posted since November 28, 2023.
Progreso's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophia Pecina, who almost dropped a triple-double on 25 points, 14 rebounds, and nine steals. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which Pecina has scored at least a third of Progreso's points. Lorena Cerda was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to IDEA Riverview, who are still winless after their seventh match. They were beaten by Rio Hondo 62-10 on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for IDEA Riverview in their matchups with Rio Hondo: they've now lost four in a row.
Progreso is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. As for IDEA Riverview, they bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Progreso against IDEA Riverview in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 58-17 win. With Progreso ahead 31-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
