Recap: Spring Creek Gators vs. Eastern Wayne Warriors
The Spring Creek Gators suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a tough 80-57 loss at the hands of Eastern Wayne. It was the first time this season that Spring Creek let down their fans at home.
Spring Creek's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Rose, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rose has scored all season. Kamron McDaniel was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Eastern Wayne's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zavion Burden led the charge by scoring 14 points. Another player making a difference was Charlie Thomas, who scored 12 points.
Spring Creek's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7. As for Eastern Wayne, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Creek will take on Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Princeton is ranked 562nd, while Spring Creek is ranked 575th). As for Eastern Wayne, they will head out on the road to take on Wayne Preparatory Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Wayne Preparatory Academy has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20.
