Preview: Poolesville Falcons vs. Magruder Colonels
Poolesville has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Magruder Colonels at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Poolesville came up short against Northwest and fell 65-57.
Meanwhile, Magruder entered their tilt with Watkins Mill with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Magruder managed a 75-70 victory over Watkins Mill on Friday. Magruder's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Magruder to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sekou Bangoura, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Gerald Suarez was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Poolesville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Magruder, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Poolesville came up short against Magruder in their previous meeting back in January, falling 47-36. Can Poolesville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
