Nampa hasn't had much luck against Bishop Kelly recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Nampa got a good showing from Kaiden McMullen, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest earned runs McMullen has allowed since back in March.
Meanwhile, while Bishop Kelly put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Emmett. The Knights put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 11-0 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Zach Wright was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bishop Kelly is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-8 otherwise. Wright was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Colin Brazil was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Bishop Kelly is 6-1 when Brazil posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Luca Quilici was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Bishop Kelly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .303 or higher in nine consecutive games.
Bishop Kelly has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Nampa, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
