East Noble fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Homestead on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 11-10. The Knights' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Aubrey Helmkamp was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Shaye Ritchie was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Wawasee got the win against Goshen on Friday by a conclusive 11-4. With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Audra Weaver was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Iliana Burelison, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Wawasee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.
Wawasee's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for East Noble, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-3.
Wawasee's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Noble hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. It's a different story for Wawasee, though, as they've only averaged .222. Will they be able to contain East Noble's hitters?
