Softball Recap: Butte Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Butte Central Catholic had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-5 to make it five. They fell just short of the Beaverhead County Beavers by a score of 8-7. The Maroons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Beavers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2016.

As for Beaverhead County, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 4.75 runs across that stretch.

For Beaverhead County's part, Kaitlyn Konen was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That double was Konen's first of the season. Tyler Gibson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Looking ahead, Butte Central Catholic will challenge Libby at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. The Maroons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Loggers have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Beaverhead County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Corvallis at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
