The Conestoga Valley Buckskins are taking a road trip to take on the Exeter Township Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Conestoga Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Monday, Conestoga Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Octorara Area, taking the game 7-2.
Toby Schaub made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Schaub was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Adam McDowell was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. Thomas Livingston was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Conestoga Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Exeter Township had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past West York Area 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 22nd.
Gavin Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Chase Youse and Carter Redding did most of the damage at the plate: Youse went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one run, while Redding went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave Youse a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Hafer, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Conestoga Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Exeter Township, their record now sits at 16-7.
Both Conestoga Valley and Exeter Township just can't seem to miss. The Buckskins have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Exeter Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
