Basketball Recap: Holcomb Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Holcomb hadn't done well against Hugoton recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Holcomb Longhorns came out on top against the Hugoton Eagles by a score of 55-42. Given the Longhorns' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Eagles are ranked 117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Holcomb's record now sits at 11-3-1. As for Hugoton, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holcomb has already played their next matchup (against Colby), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hugoton will take on Scott at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
