Baseball Recap: Oxnard Victorious

Oxnard proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by eight) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Oak Park Eagles 9-8. For the Yellowjackets, this counts as revenge for the 5-4 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Steven Lira was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Ramos, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles.

Lira wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Oxnard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Oxnard's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Oak Park, they dropped their record down to 4-6-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Oxnard didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Foothill Tech on the 29th. As for Oak Park, they will head out to take on Moorpark at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
