Softball Recap: Boston Latin Academy Dragons vs. Newton South Lions
Boston Latin Academy faced Newton South in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Dragons took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The Dragons haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Claire Hauck and Caitlin Sweeney did some serious damage despite the final result: Hauck scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Sweeney went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double was Sweeney's first of the season. Maddie Andrade was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Boston Latin Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Newton South, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boston Latin Academy will head out to square off against O'Bryant at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Newton South, they will venture away from home to challenge Cambridge Rindge & Latin at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
