Softball Recap: Ferndale Comes Up Short

Ferndale fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Turkeyfoot Valley Area on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 16-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The loss leaves the Yellow Jackets still looking for their first win of the season.

Ferndale saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delaney Mckendree, who fired off two home runs, three stolen bases, and four runs while going 4-for-4. Those home runs were Mckendree's first of the season. Another was Baylie Moschgat, who went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Ferndale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Looking ahead, Ferndale will look to defend their home field on Friday against North Star at 4:15 p.m. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, they will venture away from home to square off against Mapletown at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Maples have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.86 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
