Baseball Game Preview: Eaglecrest Raptors vs. Denver North Vikings

The Eaglecrest Raptors will take on the Denver North Vikings at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Eaglecrest fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Cherry Creek on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 5-4. The Raptors have struggled against the Bruins recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Brian Moreland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eaglecrest saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landen Holmes, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

Thomas Jefferson hit Denver North with a five-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 8-5 to the Spartans. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Spartans since on Tuesday.

Eaglecrest now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Denver North, they now also have a losing record of 7-8.
