League recap: Boys' Republic rises, California School for the Deaf falls in league standings

Arrowhead league recap: 3/13/13

Boys' Republic made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from seventh to third place in Arrowhead thanks to a 1-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, California School for the Deaf fell hardest in the standings, dropping from second all the way to fourth place after going 0-1 in the past week. Hamilton (2-0, 1-0) is the No. 1 team in the league.

The Bobcats had the most successful week out of all the teams in the league, as it came away with one league win. The Cubs vanquished California School for the Deaf 17-9.

Upland Christian Academy's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing two hits and six walks to lead the league in both categories.

The Cubs, the league's stolen base leader this season with 45, added to their lead in that category with 17 more steals over the past week.

12 batters hit over .400 this week. They were led by Caeden Barnes, who hit 1.000 this week (4-for-4).

California School for the Deaf's Angel Aragon led the league in strikeouts this week with six. He's first in the league with 22 total strikeouts.



Chris Stephens drove in four runners on Tuesday in the Eagles' 27-6 victory over Apple Valley Christian. He went 2-for-3 and scored four runs.

Aragon struck out 14 in the Cubs' 11-1 win over Bethel Christian on March 5. Over six innings of work, he gave up three hits and one run.
