Mt. Ararat came tearing into Thursday's contest with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Fryeburg Raiders, posting a 71-17 win. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Raiders are ranked 107th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mt. Ararat's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Fryeburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Mt. Ararat Eagles challenge the Freeport Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Ararat knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Freeport likes a good challenge. As for Fryeburg, they will challenge Gray-New Gloucester at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
