Softball Recap: Americas Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Americas and Abilene squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Americas had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2. The Trail Blazers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Giselle Alcala spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Americas saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brianna Madrid, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Americas moved to 22-16 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Abilene, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

While Americas had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
