            Baseball Recap: Arcola Purple Riders vs. Okaw Valley Timberwolves        
        
		
        
        
            Arcola lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Okaw Valley, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's   game. The Purple Riders were the clear victors by  a  9-1 margin over the Timberwolves on Thursday. The Purple Riders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six  runs or more this season.
 Tanner Thomas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  more than one  hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring three  runs and  stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. He also  launched a  home run, marking his first of the season.
 In other batting news,  Caiden Helmuth was  excellent,  scoring a  run while going 3-for-4. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in April of 2024.  Brevyn Whisman was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.

The  win keeps Arcola at an undefeated 6-0. Those  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average this season. As for Okaw Valley,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 2-6.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Arcola will welcome Martinsville  at 10:00  a.m.  on Saturday. As for Okaw Valley, they will host New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly  at 9:00  a.m.  on Saturday.
