Volleyball Recap: Union County Patriots vs. Northeastern Knights
Union County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Northeastern Knights. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
While Union County ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 25-23.
Olivia Tinkle paced Union County's offense, picking up 19 kills. Tinkle got some help from Casey Klein and her 28 assists. Cassidee McCashland controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.
Union County's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Northeastern, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Coincidentally, Union County and Northeastern will both be playing Franklin County the next time they take the court. The Patriots will head out to face the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Knights will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
