Softball Recap: First Christian Beats Corinth Christian Academy for Their Fifth Straight Win

First Christian waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over the Corinth Christian Academy Warriors. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly 11 runs.

Victoria Loehr made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, First Christian got a massive performance out of Roniyah Bennett, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave Bennett a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Corie Wheeler, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.

First Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .575. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in three consecutive games.

First Christian's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.6 runs over those games. As for Corinth Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

As of now, neither First Christian nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
