Basketball Recap: Sacred Heart Gremlins vs. Tipton Cardinals

It was a good run, but the Sacred Heart Gremlins unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 53-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tipton. Sacred Heart was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Tipton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jackson Bailey led the charge by scoring 20 points along with two steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Bailey posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Emmett Haas, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Sacred Heart's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5. As for Tipton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart will square off against the Chiefs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Santa Fe has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 4. Tipton will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Blue Birds at 7:30 p.m. on February 5th. Cole Camp will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
