Basketball Game Preview: Alameda Pirates vs. The Pinnacle Timberwolves

The Alameda Pirates will challenge The Pinnacle Timberwolves at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pinnacle took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Alameda, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Alameda earned a 44-36 victory over Lake County. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alameda to victory, but perhaps none more so than Minerva Santos, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Santos a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Garcia, who posted nine points and three steals.

Alameda smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, The Pinnacle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 40-27 to Arrupe Jesuit.

Alameda's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. As for The Pinnacle, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Alameda came out on top in a nail-biter against The Pinnacle in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, sneaking past 34-31. Will Alameda repeat their success, or does The Pinnacle have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
