Softball Recap: Patrick Henry Takes a Loss

Patrick Henry made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Salem, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Patriots fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 6-4 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Patriots have suffered against the Spartans since March 21, 2023.

Tatum Ziccardy was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Ziccardy was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Arianna Williams made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Carlee Coleman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Patrick Henry's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Salem, the victory snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 2-9 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Patrick Henry will square off against Glenvar at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots are facing the Highlanders at the right time seeing as the Highlanders are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Salem, they will take on Liberty Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
