Basketball Game Preview: South Delta Bulldogs vs. Simmons Blue Devils

South Delta is on a three-game streak of home losses, Simmons an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The South Delta Bulldogs will welcome the Simmons Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. South Delta has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

South Delta is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They managed a 67-62 victory over West Tallahatchie two weeks ago. The score was all tied up 34-34 at the break, but the Bulldogs were the better team in the second half.

South Delta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amarion Sanders, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 21 points and eight assists. The matchup was Sanders' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Stamps, who went 7 of 8 on his way to 17 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.

Sanders wasn't the only one working in the assists department: South Delta was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Meanwhile, Simmons lost to Shaw on the road by a 79-60 margin on Monday.

South Delta's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Simmons, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.

South Delta strolled past Simmons when the teams last played back in February by a score of 73-57. Will South Delta repeat their success, or does Simmons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
