Baseball Game Preview: Superior Panthers vs. Valley Lutheran Flames

The Superior Panthers will take on the Valley Lutheran Flames at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Superior and four for Valley Lutheran.

Mogollon hit Superior with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell 10-5 to the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Valley Lutheran fell victim to Desert Heights Prep and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Yote, falling 24-0.

Superior's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Valley Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Superior has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Valley Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went Superior's way against Valley Lutheran in their previous matchup back in May of 2017, as Superior made off with a 13-0 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Flames turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
