Preview: Allegany Campers vs. Southern Rams
Allegany is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Southern is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Allegany Campers will take on the Southern Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Allegany put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Fort Hill, posting a 58-28 victory at home. Given Allegany's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Fort Hill is ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Southern was able to grind out a solid win over Tucker County on Thursday, taking the game 56-47.
Carly Wilt continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emelee Parks, who scored six points along with six assists and four steals.
Allegany's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Southern, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Allegany came up short against Southern when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 59-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Southern's Jayden Weaver, who scored 22 points along with two blocks.
