The West Field Longhorns will challenge the Skyline Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. West Field is coming into the game hot, having won their last 20 games.
West Field is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Olympus 15-3. Considering the Longhorns have won 15 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
West Field got a great performance from Jarett Hill as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Hill has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Wyatt Penrod was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Tyke Johnson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
West Field kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 14 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skyline). They came out on top against Cyprus by a score of 18-14 on Thursday.
Cole Muse was excellent, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Skyline: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 10-17 otherwise. Peyton Papadakis was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
West Field's victory bumped their record up to 23-4. As for Skyline, their win bumped their record up to 14-17.
