Softball Recap: Kettering Takes a Loss

Kettering had lost six straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-22-1 to make it seven. They came up short against the Walled Lake Western Warriors, falling 17-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-0 on Wednesday.

As for Walled Lake Western, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-19. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games.

For Walled Lake Western's part, Maddie Farrand was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Farrand was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Sierra Geisler was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddi Bancroft, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Kettering does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Walled Lake Western, they will take on Milford at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mavericks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.74 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
