Basketball Recap: Lumberton Snags 11th Win in Last 12 Games

Lumberton had won five straight home games and Jaiden Shephard did his part to make it six on Wednesday. The Lumberton Pirates took their game with ease, bagging a 78-42 victory over the Purnell Swett Rams thanks in part to Shephard, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 40 games he's played dating back to last season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Isreal Perkins, who posted six points. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024.

Collin Sampson and Jeremiah Barnes certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Sampson earned 17 points, while Barnes scored 14 points and three steals.

Lumberton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Purnell Swett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

Lumberton has already played their next contest, a 63-50 win against South View on the 31st. As for Purnell Swett, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-35 loss against Jack Britt on the 31st.
