Ruston has no trouble against Neville

The Ruston Bearcats entered their tilt with the Neville Tigers with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Ruston enjoyed a cozy 71-54 win over Neville on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Ruston, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Jontae Turpin jr and Travone Varner certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Turpin jr scored 18 points along with six rebounds, while Varner scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Greely, who scored four points.

Ruston has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for Neville, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

Ruston is on the road again on Saturday and play against Franklin Parish at 4:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Franklin Parish is ranked 62nd, while Ruston is ranked 52nd). Neville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Denham Springs at 12:20 p.m. on December 30, 2023.
