Basketball Game Preview: Marquette Redmen vs. Westwood Patriots

Marquette is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Westwood is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Marquette Redmen will host the Westwood Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marquette knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matches -- so hopefully Westwood likes a good challenge.

Marquette is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Sault Area 105-32 on Friday. Given the Redmen's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Blue Devils are ranked 566th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Westwood unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They came up short against Iron Mountain, falling 58-32. The game marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Westwood's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4. As for Marquette, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Marquette took their victory against Westwood in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 75-54. Will Marquette repeat their success, or does Westwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
