Basketball Recap: Tecumseh Takes a Loss

Tecumseh was the 30-16 winner over Southridge when they last played one another back in January of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Braves were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 37-36 to the Raiders.

Tecumseh's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hazel Melton, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 13 boards. Melton is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Violet Melton was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Tecumseh has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season. As for Southridge, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-18.

Tecumseh and Southridge could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Braves will face off against Springs Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (325 vs. 114). Meanwhile, Southridge (ranked 324th) will meet Princeton (ranked 89th) at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
