Basketball Preview: Birchwood Christian Warriors vs. Holy Rosary Academy Knights
Birchwood Christian is 3-0 against the Knights since February of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Birchwood Christian Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Holy Rosary Academy Knights at 3:45 p.m. Hopefully Birchwood Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Tuesday.
Birchwood Christian came into Tuesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They managed a 38-33 victory over Sand Point. The win was just what Birchwood Christian needed coming off of a 80-40 loss in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Birchwood Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Guderian, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Guderian is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Severns, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 18-18 at halftime, Holy Rosary Academy was not quite the Lynx's equal in the second half back in January. Holy Rosary Academy took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lynx. The defeat means Holy Rosary Academy is still on the hunt for the season's first 'W'.
Birchwood Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Holy Rosary Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Birchwood Christian against the Knights in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 57-15 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Birchwood Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
