Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cristo Rey can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Wednesday and fell 45-44 to the Montfort Academy Knights. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against Montfort Academy this season, with their most recent defeat being a 44-33 loss two weeks ago.

Montfort Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bianca Creales, who posted 16 points. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Creales has scored at least a third of Montfort Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Reyes, who put up 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Cristo Rey and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Montfort Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-9.

Cristo Rey does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Montfort Academy, they will face off against St. Saviour at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
