Baseball Recap: Beaumont Comes Up Short

Beaumont was the 2-1 winner over Redlands when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars fell just short of the Terriers by a score of 4-3 on Friday.

Beaumont got a good showing from Lucas Lugo, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Lugo a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Kolby Martin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Adam Nelson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Beaumont has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Redlands, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-6 record.

Looking ahead, Beaumont will venture away from home to face off against Cajon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Redlands, they will host Redlands East Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Terriers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
